ESE PARENT SURVEY
ATTENTION PARENTS OF STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
The annual Parent Survey indicating how well schools are supporting parents’ involvement in their child’s education can be accessed online beginning February 1, 2012. To access and complete the survey, log on to www.ESESurvey.com. If you are unable to complete an online survey, please request a paper survey from your child’s school. The parent survey allows you to provide meaningful feedback to the Florida Department of Education concerning educational services your child is receiving. Remember the parent survey is only for parents of students with disabilities in grades prekindergarten through 12th grade.

All students at Margate Middle School are special. However, some students have needs that must be addressed to help them succeed within the school and community. Exceptional Student Education is a service designed to individually assist students in achieving his or her maximum academic potential.
Our comprehensive program accepts all eligible students, from the most gifted to the most severely disabled.

Exceptional Student Education Faculty
Margate Middle School’s Exceptional Student Education Team consists of specially trained and dedicated educators, therapists and paraprofessionals who offer exceptional student services and resources your child needs to succeed.
Exceptional Student Services
Project Based Learning/ Accelerated Curriculum: Students who are eligible for gifted services receive an accelerated curriculum focused on project-based learning, college preparation and advanced leadership opportunities.
Consultation: Students who are eligible for consultative services receive all services within the general education setting. An exceptional student educator consults with the student’s general education teachers and /or the student on a monthly basis monitoring the student’s academic progress aligned with Sunshine State Standards on grade level. Consultative services focuses on individual student academic progress, social emotional functioning, independent functioning and communication skills are addressed. Weekly assignments, homework, projects etc are continuously reviewed. Student receives classroom and testing accommodations.
Collaboration: Students who are eligible for collaborative services receive all services within the general education setting. An exceptional student educator collaborates with the student’s general education teachers on a weekly basis monitoring the student’s academic progress aligned with Sunshine State Standards on grade level. Collaborative services focus on individual student academic progress, social emotional functioning, independent functioning and communication skills. Weekly assignments, homework, projects etc are continuously reviewed. Student receives classroom and testing accommodations.
Specialized Instruction: Students who are eligible for specialized instructional services receive all services within a small group setting. An exceptional student educator educates exceptional students on core academic concepts aligned with Sunshine State Standard Access Points within a small group environment.
Speech and Language Therapy: Students who are eligible for speech and language services receive either small group therapy or therapy within the general education setting. A certified speech and language therapist offers speech and/ or language services.
